Deployed for the first time at the Battle of Kursk, the Nashorn (rhinoceros) was a powerfully-armed tank destroyer fielded by the Wehrmacht. These vehicles were based on robust and reliable Panzer III and IV chassis and equipped with the most powerful anti-tank gun of the day, the Pak 43. It was an extra-ordinarily powerful 8.8 cm gun fully capable of punching a round through six inches of solid steel plate at ranges up to and exceeding one mile.

Laser Tank The 1K17 Szhatie was developed in the 1970s and 1980s. Although the Soviet Union attempted to keep the plans secret, the Pentagon managed to obtain drawings from defectors. Western intelligence services code named it the Stiletto.
